CO2-neutral malt production thanks to our new biomass firing system.

Nachhaltigkeit bei Kling:
Wir reden nicht gerne viel darüber.
Wir machen lieber viel dafür.

We will put our biomass combustion plant into operation in mid-2025.

It consists of a large wood chip bunker, hydraulic conveyor systems, a firing system with Turbo Challenger, a large buffer storage tank for surplus energy and a two-stage flue gas cleaning system.

The plant is currently under construction - details on the advanced, ecological components of the plant and pictures of the construction site in Schriesheim can be found below.
Biomass bunker and firing system at the highest technical level
The wood chip bunker is designed for a four-day fuel requirement.

An inclined trough chain conveyor and a hydraulic slide-in unit transport the wood chips from the bunker to the furnace.

A so-called Turbo Challenger already ensures optimum and clean combustion in the furnace.
Two-stage air purification included
Even the finest soot particles are filtered out in two stages:

flue gas dedusting takes place via a multi-cyclone and a downstream e-filter, which guarantees residue-free combustion and therefore clean exhaust air.

We therefore fulfil all the requirements for compliance with the strict EU emission limits.
Maximum energy efficiency thanks to preheated air
A LUVO, the air preheater, preheats the combustion air and thus also ensures high energy efficiency during combustion.

An additional built-in efficiency booster enables optimum combustion control with the best possible efficiency.
Surplus energy is stored
A large buffer storage tank stores heat that is overproduced during combustion operation and releases it back to the system with a time delay when required.

This ensures that the system can be operated continuously with a constant load, a further measure for optimising the energy efficiency of our biomass combustion system.
With the help of our investment in renewable energy as the primary energy supplier, the entire heat requirement of our malthouse in Schriesheim is CO2 neutral.
